Apollo 11 Flight Plan (Final, AS-506)

  • Source document: 1969-07-01-apollo-11-flight-plan-as-506.pdf (scanned). Searchable text layer: 1969-07-01-apollo-11-flight-plan-as-506_djvu.htm (Internet Archive DjVu OCR — the grid-line margins are noisy but the activity columns and GET marks are legible).

  • Original: NASA, Apollo 11 Flight Plan, AS-506/CSM-107/LM-5, Final, July 1, 1969, Flight Planning Branch, Flight Crew Support Division, Manned Spacecraft Center (with TRW Systems support).

  • Available online: Internet Archive — Apollo 11 Flight Plan (Final).

The authoritative minute-by-minute “as-planned” timeline of the whole mission — the schedule the crew trained to, tagged in ground elapsed time (GET). It is the plan counterpart to the Mission Report’s “as-flown” record and the narrative LSOP: each page is an hour-wide strip with parallel CMP / CDR / LMP activity columns, a REV (lunar-revolution) count, and wall-clock EDT, produced on MSC Form 2189. It is the primary source for what each crewman was scheduled to be doing at any GET.

  • The nominal surface day. The plan placed the EVA after a first rest period — sheets show a scheduled 4-hour REST PERIOD and a 1-hour EAT PERIOD before EVA prep, with a STAY/NO-STAY for EVA prep decision at ~110:30.
  • Nominal EVA = 112:30 → 115:18 GET (~2 h 40 min). Cabin depress / “START EVA” at 112:30 (0+00), CDR egress to the platform at 112:39 (release MESA, TV on, descend ladder), through EVA termination 114:43 and END EVA 115:18 (2+40). This independently corroborates the 112:30–115:18 bracket the plan-vs-actual concept draws from the LSOP — and the crew in fact flew the moonwalk ~3 h earlier (actual egress 109:24).
  • Planned task sequence (GET): egress → environmental familiarization → contingency sample → TV deployment (113:00+) → SWC deploy 113:19bulk sample 113:30LM inspection / ALSCCEASEP 114:00 (LR³ + PSE 114:06) → documented sample → retrieve SWC + core tube 114:30 → terminate — matching the LSOP priority order.
  • Format / OCR note. GET runs HHH:MM/HHH:MM:SS; the scanned PDF is not text-extractable in this environment (no pdftotext/pdftoppm), so the _djvu.htm text layer is the searchable sibling.
