This site is a curated, cited archive of the Apollo 11 lunar-surface mission — touchdown at 102:45:40 GET to lunar liftoff at 124:22:00 GET. It exists to put the primary record itself in front of you: the documents, the voices, the photographs, the rocks, and what they add up to.
Built from the record
Section titled “Built from the record”Every claim links back to the primary document it rests on — the Mission Report, the voice transcripts, the crew debriefings, the sample dossiers. The registry lists all 24 documents, each with a summary note and a pointer to its original at NASA.
Measured against ground truth
Section titled “Measured against ground truth”Where the 1969 reports rounded or disagreed, the analyses re-check them against the 2011 Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter imagery and each other. Where the record disagrees with itself, that disagreement is documented rather than smoothed over — see the discrepancy ledger.
Public domain, properly credited
Section titled “Public domain, properly credited”NASA documents and imagery are U.S. Government works in the public domain. No copyrighted primary-source files are hosted here: the two © AAAS Science articles are cited by DOI, and the un-hosted NASA scans are cited with pointers to their originals. Surface photography is drawn from the Apollo 11 70 mm Hasselblad magazines, credited frame by frame.
Plain, portable, durable
Section titled “Plain, portable, durable”The whole library is plain Markdown, compiled and cross-linked as a curated knowledge base; this site is generated from it, and the source set stands on its own. The interactive pages — the descent, the transcript reader, the photo-map, the sample explorer, the mission clock — are built from the same files, not a separate database.
