Curious Air — Privacy Policy

Curious Air is a privacy-first Android signal explorer designed to reveal nearby signals and device-sensor readings without sending that information to Ulix unless you choose to export or share it.

What Curious Air accesses

When you choose to use the relevant features, Curious Air may access:

• nearby Wi-Fi network information, including network names, hardware addresses, signal strength, frequency, and security capabilities;
• nearby Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy device information, including advertised names, hardware addresses, signal strength, and broadcast data;
• precise location and GNSS information for satellite displays and because Android requires location access for certain Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scans;
• cellular network information, where supported by the device and Android version;
• NFC tag contents when you deliberately scan a tag;
• camera input for experimental camera-based signal tools;
• microphone amplitude for live sound-level and ultrasonic tools; and
• readings from built-in sensors such as the magnetometer, accelerometer, gyroscope, orientation sensors, barometer, ambient-light sensor, step sensors, and other sensors reported by the device.

These readings are used to provide the feature you selected. Microphone input is analyzed on-device, and Curious Air does not save audio recordings. Camera-based tools do not save camera images or video.

What Curious Air does not do

• No ads
• No sale of personal data
• No account required
• No behavioral marketing or profiling
• No analytics or third-party tracking libraries
• No upload of sensor readings, location, nearby network identifiers, nearby device identifiers, NFC contents, camera input, or microphone input to Ulix

What Curious Air stores on your device

Live scans and sensor readings are processed on your device. Curious Air may store the following in its private local storage:

• feature and appearance preferences;
• a cached status indicating whether Curious Air Pro is unlocked, so paid features can remain available offline; and
• timed signal-log CSV files that you deliberately create.

Depending on the sources you select, a timed log may contain timestamps, device-sensor readings, Bluetooth names and hardware addresses, Bluetooth signal strength, and related session information. Saved logs remain in Curious Air’s private storage until you export them, share them, delete them, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app.

Every timed logging session has a user-selected hard size limit of 25, 50, 100, 250, or 500 MiB. Curious Air also keeps a protected free-space reserve and stops logging if the next complete batch would cross the selected limit or if device storage reaches the protected reserve.

Permissions

Curious Air may request location, nearby-device and Bluetooth, activity-recognition, camera, microphone, and notification permissions. It also uses NFC, Wi-Fi-state, internet, foreground-service, wake-lock, and high-sampling-rate sensor capabilities where required for selected features.

Runtime permissions are optional. Features that depend on a denied permission will be unavailable or limited, and you can revoke permissions at any time in Android settings. CSV export uses Android’s system document picker and does not require storage permission.

When data or network traffic may leave your device

Curious Air does not send your signal or sensor data to Ulix. Data or network traffic may nevertheless leave the device when you take or enable one of these actions:

• Local-network discovery sends mDNS, SSDP, and WS-Discovery probes to devices on your current local network.
• Exporting a CSV uses Android’s system document picker to save the file to a location you choose.
• Sharing an exported file sends it to the app or service you select.
• Making, restoring, or verifying a Pro purchase communicates with Google Play Billing.

Depending on the export, a CSV file may include timestamps, Wi-Fi names and hardware addresses, Bluetooth names and hardware addresses, cellular identifiers, GNSS satellite information, or device-sensor readings. Exporting and sharing are optional and controlled by you.

Premium features

Curious Air offers optional Pro features through a one-time in-app purchase. Pro includes CSV export and timed multi-signal logging with per-source intervals. Purchases, purchase restoration, and entitlement checks are handled by Google Play Billing. Curious Air does not receive or store your full payment-card information.

When you buy or restore a purchase, Google Play confirms the purchase status to the app, and Curious Air stores that status locally so Pro features can remain unlocked offline.

Backups and device transfer

Android’s built-in backup or device-transfer system may back up local app preferences and the cached Pro status to your Google account, depending on your device and backup settings.

Saved timed signal logs are explicitly excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. Files you export through the system document picker are user-managed files and may be backed up or transferred by the destination app, storage provider, or device settings you choose.

Third-party services

Curious Air uses Google Play Billing for optional Pro purchases and purchase restoration. Google may receive standard technical request data and handles payment information and purchase history under its own privacy practices.

Curious Air does not use advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking services.

Your controls

You can revoke app permissions in Android settings, stop an active logging session, delete saved logs inside Curious Air, delete exported CSV files from their chosen destination, clear Curious Air’s app storage, or uninstall the app.

Because Curious Air has no account and Ulix does not receive your signal or sensor data, Ulix has no associated cloud profile or sensor-data record to delete.
